Play YouTube Music in the Background on Android — Free, No Premium Needed

If you've ever locked your phone and had YouTube pause mid-song, you already know the problem. YouTube Premium fixes it — but costs money every month.

YMusic is a free Android app that solves this without a subscription.

What YMusic Does

• Plays YouTube audio in the background even when the screen is off
• Downloads songs as MP3, M4A, or Opus directly to your phone
• Removes all ads from YouTube content
• Uses 88% less data than streaming video (3 MB per song vs 25 MB)

No Google account required. Works on Android 5.0 and above.

Extra Features

The app also includes an equalizer, sleep timer, floating player, and playback speed control — features you'd normally only get with a paid app.
